By Rajesh Kumar/ITI Business TodayWith no water supply, the Derry township is facing the biggest sewage problem in India.
The township’s sewage treatment plant, Derry-East Sewage Treatment Plant, is run by the state government and it pumps about 500 litres of sewage a day.
Its capacity is just 1.6 million litres.
The state government has said it has a Rs1.3-crore backlog to fill in the shortfall.
The problem has been exacerbated by the ongoing protests in Derry, which have seen about 500,000 people attend demonstrations demanding a clean water supply and sanitation.
