The Delhi-based Delhi Water Supply Corporation (DWSC) will run the new sewage pumps for a period of 14 days after the government imposed a temporary ban on pumping water from the city’s two main water bodies.
The DWSC, which runs two sewage treatment plants, said the pumps would be used for pumping water for the public during peak periods.
The DWSD said the suspension was taken due to the fact that the pumps were not functioning properly.
The ban came on February 18 and was expected to last for 14 days.
However, it was lifted on March 6.
The government said it would continue to utilise the pumps until the pumps can be replaced.
